From the outset, it's clear that President Biden's campaign is facing unprecedented challenges. With 34 Democrats in Congress urging him to step aside and over 200 elected officials signing a similar petition, the political storm clouds are gathering. But it's not just political pressure that Biden has to contend with; his campaign is also grappling with a serious financial crisis.

The president, currently recuperating in Delaware after being diagnosed with Covid, remains defiant. In a news statement, he vowed to return to the campaign trail next week, undeterred by the growing calls for his withdrawal. Yet, as Biden digs in, his campaign is dismissing both donors and elected officials who have turned their backs on him.

The vice president, Kamala Harris, is also in the thick of it, meeting with major Democratic donors in a zoom call organized by influential figures like Reid Hoffman, the founder of LinkedIn. Hoffman has been aggressively pushing for an alternative ticket, raising questions about Harris' own position in the campaign.

But the real elephant in the room is the campaign's money problems. Many donors have made it clear that they will no longer write checks as long as Biden remains at the top of the ticket. This stance is causing a significant funding gap, leaving the campaign scrambling to find resources to fuel its efforts.

One major Democratic donor summed up the situation bluntly: "I don't know how you campaign with a broadening electoral map without money. I've never seen this strategy where you think you can win without money."

As Election Day looms closer, the question remains: can Biden's campaign overcome these challenges and secure the necessary funding to stay afloat? Or will the financial crisis and internal divisions within the Democratic Party prove too much to overcome?

Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the road to November is going to be a bumpy one for Biden and his team.
