What does it mean to be a part of a legacy that has shaped the future of a nation? How does a group of individuals, united by a common vision, alter the course of history? These are the questions that come to mind as we reflect on the remarkable journey of Sigma Gamma Rho sorority Incorporated, a journey that has been instrumental in fulfilling the promise of America.
Since 1922, the members of this esteemed sorority have demonstrated that service leads to progress. They've awarded scholarships, launched employment programs, partnered with St. Jude to combat childhood cancer, and played a pivotal role in electing the first woman Vice President of the United States. Their story is one of resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to a brighter future.
In this defining moment, we stand at a crossroads, facing a choice between two vastly different visions for our nation. One vision is rooted in the past, filled with division and regression. The other is focused on the future, a future where health care is affordable, where women receive equal pay, and where every person has the opportunity to thrive.
We are fighting for a future where hardworking Americans are not burdened by hidden fees and surprise charges, where corporate landlords are held accountable, and where the cost of prescription drugs is capped for all. This is not just a fight for America's families and middle class; it is a fight for the very strength of our nation.
Yet, as we strive to move forward, we are met with forces that seek to drag us backward. The proposed Project 2025 is a testament to this, an agenda that would raise taxes on middle-class families while cutting taxes for billionaires, eliminate the Department of Education, and strip thousands of children of their preschool education.
We remember the failed policies of the past, the attempts to dismantle Social Security and Medicare, and the relentless efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act. We have lived through the divisiveness and disrespect, and we know that the American people deserve better.
Our fight is not just for the future; it is a fight for freedom. We are witnessing an unprecedented attack on fundamental freedoms and rights, from the right to vote to the freedom to love openly, to learn about our true history, and to make decisions about our own bodies.
To those who would dare to attack these freedoms, we say, "Bring it on." We love our country, and we are willing to fight for the ideals that make America great. We will pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, implement universal background checks, and fight for a woman's right to choose.
In this critical moment, the future of our democracy is on the ballot. With Election Day just 97 days away, we call on the incredible members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., to energize, organize, and mobilize. When we organize, mountains move; when we mobilize, nations change; and when we vote, we make history.
Let us continue to fight with faith, optimism, and hope, for when we fight, we win. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.
