The convening nation, the Islamic Republic of Iran, stands accused as the planet's leading sponsor of terrorism, a title it wears with appalling pride. From the outset, a question looms: How can a nation, responsible for the most heinous acts of terror across the globe, feign concern for escalation and call for restraint? Just last week, the innocent joy of children playing soccer in Maj Al Shams was shattered by an Iranian-supplied rocket, leaving 12 dead and 30 injured. Where were the condemnations from the Iranian proxies and their suppliers? Silence, except for the whimpers of a region caught in the crossfire.
Yesterday, Israel responded with precision to the terror that has plagued its citizens for too long. Fuad Shuker, a senior terrorist with the blood of Israelis and many others on his hands, was targeted. His role in the Maj Al Shams massacre and the relentless missile attacks on Israel over the past nine months cannot be overstated. Yet, the world is asked to equate the actions of a democratic nation with those of a terrorist organization.
Shuker's responsibility extends beyond the recent conflicts. The attack on US Marines and French forces in Beirut in 1983, which he masterminded, resulted in the tragic loss of 241 American and 58 French soldiers. This history of terror cannot be ignored, and the world must recognize the true nature of the threat Iran poses.
Iran's support for Hamas and other terrorist organizations is not a secret. Since the horrific attack on October 7th last year, Iran has provided Hamas with $800 million, along with advanced weaponry and technology. Over 30% of the military arms and munitions captured by Israel in the Gaza Strip were Iranian-made. This proxy war is a threat not just to Israel but to any nation that dares to stand against Iran's quest for global tyranny.
The UN's silence in the face of such atrocities is deafening. Where is the condemnation for the root cause of regional escalation? The international community must hold Iran accountable for its crimes. We cannot afford to cower before the tyranny of a nation that seeks to wipe Israel and the Jewish people from the face of the Earth.
We urge the International Community to recognize the Iranian Revolutionary Guards as a terror organization and to increase sanctions on Iran. The blood of innocent children and the ongoing plight of hostages held by Hamas are a stark reminder of the stakes involved. It is time for the world to see beyond the mask of moderation Iran dons and to demand justice and peace.
