There is a time and place for seasoned experience in public life, but equally, there is a need for fresh, younger voices. Over the next six months, my focus will remain on fulfilling my duties as president. This means continuing to lower costs for hardworking families, fostering economic growth, defending our personal freedoms and civil rights, and standing against hate and extremism.
But let's pause for a moment. What does it mean to defend our democracy? What is at stake when we talk about passing the torch? These questions are not merely rhetorical; they are the bedrock of our nation's future.
In just a few months, the American people will decide the course of our future. I have made my choice, and my views are clear. I would like to express my gratitude to our remarkable Vice President, Kamala Harris. Her experience, tenacity, and capability have made her an incredible partner and a leader for our country.

As you make that choice, remember the wisdom of Benjamin Franklin, which hangs on my office wall alongside the busts of Dr. King, Rosa Parks, and Cesar Chavez. When Franklin was asked whether the Founders had given America a monarchy or a republic, he responded, "A republic, if you can keep it." The fate of our republic is now in your hands.

We must keep the faith and remember who we are—the United States of America. There is nothing beyond our capacity when we work together.
