In the aftermath of a shocking event that has left a community grappling for answers, investigators are working tirelessly to uncover the motive behind it. As they delve deeper, those who knew the shooter, Thomas Crooks, are speaking out. One of them is Jim Knapp, a former Bethel Park guidance counselor who counseled Crooks during his high school years.

Jim Knapp joins us to share his insights on Crooks as a student. "I have known Thomas since he was a sophomore in high school," Knapp begins. "And Thomas was a quiet young man, intelligent, stayed to himself." But what makes Crooks' case even more intriguing is his impeccable school record. "In his senior year alone, he only missed one day of school," Knapp reveals. "And I must say, that's very unique for seniors because they always have a couple skip days in there and so on and so forth."

But before we delve further into Crooks' high school life, it's important to express our deepest sympathies to the families affected by this tragic event. The father of one of the victims passed away from the shooting, and our hearts go out to the community of Bethel Park, where Crooks once lived and studied.

Knapp recalls the moment he found out that a former student was behind this shocking event. "It sure was a huge shock," he says. "And it's almost like a movie. It's almost like a book that you hear of all this on TV, different scenarios like this. But I actually was part of it now."

As Knapp received the news, he couldn't believe it. "My former principal texted me and told me what happened. And my stomach just went to the ground. It was a very deep time to discern, a very deep time to bring my faith into this, because I really rely on God."

Knapp believes that evil is what overcame Crooks, and he thinks that society needs to go back to a place where prayer is not just in schools but in society as well. "You know, I look at the role modeling and I say, people need to role model for these young people in school," he emphasizes.

But was Crooks bullied in high school, as a former classmate suggested? Knapp adamantly disagrees. "I can honestly tell you there are no records that Thomas was bullied," he says. "As guidance counselors, all four of us were out and about amongst the school, and we made sure that if it was going on, we would stop it."

So, what could have driven a quiet, intelligent young man like Crooks to commit such a shocking act? Was there something in his high school life that we're missing? Or was it something deeper, something that only Crooks himself knew?

As we continue to search for answers, we must also remember the victims and their families. This tragic event has left a scar on the community of Bethel Park, and it's a reminder that we must always be vigilant in identifying and addressing the root causes of such acts.

In conclusion, the case of Thomas Crooks raises many questions about the motives behind such shocking events. As we delve deeper into his high school life, we hope to uncover the answers that will help us prevent similar tragedies in the future. But we must also remember the victims and their families, and offer them our support and condolences in this difficult time.
