As veteran journalist Carl Bernstein reveals in his latest reporting, President Biden's campaign is facing significant challenges from within his own party. Sources tell CNN that the President, recovering from COVID at his home in Delaware, is "seething" at the pressure campaign and those behind it. But what exactly is causing this internal turmoil, and what does it mean for Biden's future?

Nearly a dozen Democratic lawmakers have now come out in support of Biden withdrawing from the race, with 34 congressional Democrats now calling for him to give up his campaign. This includes senior and younger members of the Democratic caucus, progressive progressives, members of the Hispanic and Black caucuses, and even a third and fourth senator. But why are they turning on their own party's leader?

Congressman Seth Moulton, who called on President Biden to exit about two weeks ago, offers some insight. In an opinion piece in the Boston Globe, Moulton writes that he saw Biden in a small group at Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, and for the first time, he didn't seem to recognize him. While this could happen to anyone as they age, Moulton believes it is part of a deeper problem that could renew concerns about Biden's ability to serve another four years.

This week has been a particularly uncomfortable one for the Biden campaign, with moments like an interview with the Beat network in which he stumbled over the name of his secretary of defense, Lloyd Austin. Despite the pressure tactics, Biden's campaign insists that there is "no plan for an alternative nominee," and the President himself issued a statement saying he looks forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week. But can he really overcome these challenges?

Biden's campaign chair made a rare TV appearance today, reassuring voters that the President is still in the race. They claim that for every person who has expressed concern, there are many more who are still supporting Biden. However, a poll by the Associated Press and National Opinion Research Center conducted last week shows that about 65% of Democrats believe the President should withdraw.

As the Democratic National Convention approaches on August 19th, the question remains: can Biden's candidacy be sustained? According to Bernstein's reporting, the President has moved from being contemplative about his situation to recognition that it is very unlikely. And it's not just Biden who is feeling the pressure. His family is angry and feels abandoned, with the word "abandoned" being used several times in discussions with people in the White House.

So, what does this all mean for the future of the Biden campaign? Will he be able to overcome the challenges from within his own party and the concerns about his ability to serve? Or will the pressure campaign be too much to bear? Only time will tell, but as we head towards the Democratic National Convention, the stakes are high, and the outcome is uncertain. What do you think? Will Biden be able to sustain his candidacy, or is it time for him to withdraw? Let us know in the comments below.
