Have you ever wished for a larger screen on your game console, laptop, or phone while on the go? The V2 Pro XR Glasses might just be the solution you've been looking for. These innovative display glasses have been my travel companion for the past few weeks, and I'm excited to share my experience and insights.
Last year, I reviewed the original V2 XR glasses, and now, I'm here to tell you what sets the Pro version apart. These glasses connect to various devices via USB-C or HDMI, offering a much bigger monitor experience without the need to carry a large display. But what's new in the Pro model? Let's dive in.
Due to the limitations of capturing what I see through the glasses, we've set up a GoPro as close as possible to give you a real-life visual sense. These glasses have become my go-to travel buddy, allowing me to enjoy my Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch on a much larger screen. Whether it's immersive movie watching or getting work done on my MacBook, the image quality is sharp enough for text to be easily legible.
The V2 Pro features two 1080p micro OLED displays, one for each eye, with all computing done in the large brim at the top. The display isn't meant to fill your entire view but rather a section of it. The focus can be adjusted individually for each eye, a feature I've only seen in V2's glasses.
Here's a breakdown of the enhancements: - Display size increased from 120 to 135 degrees. - Refresh rate doubled from 60 to 120 Hz. - Brightness increased from 1,800 nits to 4,000 nits.
These upgrades make the screen extremely pleasant to look at, whether indoors or outdoors.
Comfort is a crucial factor, and the V2 Pro comes with four different nose pads. I found the empty one to be the most suitable, despite being the least comfortable, as it offers the best visuals. I wish V2 had incorporated a tilt feature like the Xreal Air Display Glasses, which would cater to different viewing angles and head shapes.
The glasses' arms sit comfortably against the side of my head, but I miss the bendable arms of the Xreal Air Pros. However, the magnetic cable port on the V2 Pros is a significant advantage over the standard USB-C port on the Xreal Air.
V2 has sent along some exciting accessories with the glasses: - 13,000 milliamp battery prod: A must-get accessory that expands functionality to HDMI devices and doubles as a USB battery for your phone or other devices. - Dock: For gaming enthusiasts, this dock allows you to connect your Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo Switch to the glasses. It also serves as a USB battery. - Bluetooth controller: A partnership with 8bitdo offers a high-quality controller that matches the Switch's Pro Controller and is perfect for gaming with the glasses.
The V2 Pro glasses retail for $459, just $20 more than the previous model, but with several worthwhile upgrades. If you're interested in the dock and controller as well, the V2 Pro collection is available for $588. I recommend getting the glasses and the dock at the very least, as the bundle offers the controller for free.
So, what do you think? Could display glasses like the V2 Pro fit into your gaming or PC setup? Share your thoughts in the comments and let's discuss the future of mobile display technology.
