Have you ever dreamed of gaming on the go, with all the comforts of home but none of the constraints? Emily, our editor, found herself with a camper van but without a gaming setup – a problem we were determined to solve. Thanks to DJI's sponsorship, we embarked on a mission to convert this mobile grass touching machine into the ultimate gaming haven on wheels. Let's dive into how we turned this vision into reality.
Our first hurdle was the fact that computers are typically fragile and not designed for the rigors of travel. We needed to create a setup that would withstand thousands of kilometers on bumpy roads. The solution? A custom-built, shock-resistantPC case with vibration dampers, ensuring our hardware would survive the journey.
Laptops were out of the question; we needed the power of full-fledged PCs. We opted for Ryzen 7 5800 x3d CPUs, ASRock b650 mini ITX boards, and RTX 4060 TI GPUs for a balance of performance and efficiency. These components were housed in a compact, custom-designed case that featured RGB lighting and efficient cooling solutions.
The van's limited space posed another challenge. We innovated by converting the bed into a couch and adding a table, creating a flexible gaming area. The PCs were mounted securely, with intake fans on the front and a vented shroud for the power supplies at the back.
DJI's contribution wasn't just financial; it was about making the impossible possible. We utilized their 2200-watt 80 plus Platinum power supply, which was small enough to fit in the van and efficient enough to power our setup. The power supply also featured quiet charging and dual 140W type C ports, capable of charging two MacBook Pros to 50% in just 30 minutes.
We paid attention to the little things that make gaming experiences memorable. The inclusion of a portable monitor with a stand, a projector for movie nights, and RGB fans with a privacy panel added flair and functionality to our setup.
The final result was nothing short of spectacular. Two gaming setups, one in the front seat and one converts from the bed into a desk, allowed for simultaneous gaming sessions. The addition of a projector and a powerful sound system turned the van into a mobile entertainment center.
This project was a testament to creativity, innovation, and the power of technology to transform our dreams into reality. Thanks to DJI, we were able to create a gaming paradise that could travel anywhere, proving that with the right mindset and tools, the sky's the limit.
